Comprehensive Underwater Services BC

British Columbia’s complex marine and freshwater systems require specialized expertise and technology. Ven-Tech Subsea provides complete underwater inspection, cleaning, maintenance, and construction services throughout the province — supporting municipalities, utilities, ports, engineering firms, and industrial facilities.

1. Commercial Diving and Inspection

Our commercial diving teams perform a wide range of tasks, from structural inspections and reservoir cleaning to bridge pier evaluations and underwater repairs. Using surface-supplied systems, Kirby Morgan helmets, and live HD video feeds, our divers safely execute complex underwater work in lakes, rivers, and marine environments.

Every dive is recorded, documented, and delivered with a professional inspection report. Our experience includes bridge inspections, potable water tank repairs, intake cleaning, and marine construction support.

2. ROV Inspection and Mapping

Ven-Tech Subsea operates a fleet of Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs) equipped with 4K video, multibeam sonar, and positioning sensors. These systems allow detailed underwater inspections without the need for diver entry — ideal for confined or deep-water locations.

ROV operations are perfect for hydroelectric dams, pipelines, marine outfalls, and reservoirs where safety, precision, and speed are essential. Every mission includes high-resolution video, sonar imaging, and GIS-ready deliverables for engineers and clients.

3. Reservoir Cleaning and Sediment Removal

For municipalities and water utilities, Ven-Tech Subsea specializes in non-drain reservoir cleaning. Using diver-assisted vacuum systems and robotic crawlers, we remove sediment, silt, and biofilm from potable water reservoirs while the system remains online.

All procedures are compliant with AWWA C652-19 for potable water systems. Equipment is disinfected prior to each entry, ensuring no cross-contamination between sites. Detailed before-and-after video documentation and sediment volume reports are provided upon completion.

4. Marine Construction Support

Ven-Tech Subsea’s marine construction teams assist contractors with pile installation, underwater cutting, concrete repair, and mooring systems. Our divers and ROVs work hand-in-hand with surface crews to maintain efficiency and accuracy on every marine project.

We provide underwater welding, hydraulic cutting, rebar tying, and subsea grouting services. Our approach minimizes downtime and ensures compliance with CSA and WorkSafeBC standards.

5. Bridge and Infrastructure Inspections

Our underwater bridge inspections are conducted using both divers and ROVs to assess scour, foundation stability, and concrete condition. Each inspection meets NBIS and CSA S6-19 structural evaluation standards.

We’ve supported multiple bridge and infrastructure clients across BC — from the Lower Mainland to the North Coast — providing full visual, sonar, and photographic documentation for engineers and asset managers.

6. Potable Water Diving Services

Ven-Tech Subsea is one of the few companies in BC fully certified for potable water diving. Our divers perform inspections, cleaning, and repairs inside municipal and industrial water storage tanks without draining or disrupting service.

All gear, umbilicals, and helmets are disinfected with a 200 ppm chlorine solution before each project. We adhere to AWWA, CSA, and provincial water quality guidelines to protect your system integrity.

7. Outfall and Intake Maintenance

We provide underwater outfall and intake inspections for municipal and industrial systems. Our teams locate blockages, assess diffuser ports, and remove sediment buildup using vacuum and hydraulic cleaning equipment.

ROV sonar imaging and diver-recorded footage confirm pipe alignment and discharge conditions, ensuring long-term reliability of outfall systems.

8. Underwater Welding and Cutting

Ven-Tech Subsea offers certified underwater welding and thermal cutting for steel, aluminum, and composite structures. Using shielded metal arc (SMAW) and exothermic cutting tools, our welders execute in-water structural repairs, crack sealing, and reinforcement work.

All weld procedures are designed and tested according to CSA and engineering specifications. We perform both wet welding and hyperbaric weld support for long-term durability.

9. Dam and Hydroelectric Services

Our Underwater Services BC include dam inspections, gate repairs, and penstock cleaning for hydroelectric facilities. We work in confined, low-visibility, or high-pressure environments with specialized equipment and redundant life-support systems.

Our work supports major power producers and water authorities throughout the province, ensuring safety and operational continuity for hydro infrastructure.

10. Contaminated Water Diving

Ven-Tech Subsea’s contaminated water diving division is trained to work in hazardous environments such as wastewater treatment plants, industrial lagoons, and chemical containment basins.

Divers use positive-pressure helmets, chemical-resistant suits, and multi-stage decontamination systems. These operations are executed under strict HAZMAT and environmental controls, ensuring zero exposure or release.

11. Hydrographic and Bathymetric Mapping

Using multibeam sonar, side-scan sonar, and RTK-GNSS systems, we perform hydrographic and bathymetric mapping for lakes, rivers, and coastal zones. These surveys provide engineers with accurate depth models, sediment data, and terrain maps for design and monitoring.

Our mapping teams integrate data from ROVs, USVs (unmanned surface vehicles), and drones to create seamless digital elevation models (DEMs) that support dredging, construction, and environmental planning.

12. Coastal and Environmental Monitoring

Ven-Tech Subsea provides coastal and environmental monitoring to help municipalities and industry track sedimentation, erosion, and aquatic habitat health.

We collect repeatable datasets using sonar and UAVs, building long-term monitoring programs that support environmental compliance and restoration efforts.

13. Pipeline Inspection and Repair

Our ROV and diver teams perform pipeline inspections for submerged water and sewer systems. We use sonar profiling to identify deformation, corrosion, and leaks.

For repairs, divers apply epoxy putties, install clamps, or insert sealing plugs to restore function without excavation. Each project includes video records and detailed condition reports.

14. Emergency Underwater Response

Ven-Tech Subsea maintains emergency response diving units capable of deploying 24/7 for leaks, collapses, or urgent underwater repairs. Our mobile teams travel anywhere in BC equipped with compressors, lighting, pumps, ROVs, and complete diving systems.

Rapid mobilization minimizes service interruption, protects the environment, and reduces overall project costs.

15. Long-Term IMR (Inspection, Maintenance, Repair) Programs

We help clients develop multi-year IMR programs that track infrastructure performance and schedule preventative maintenance. These programs are designed to reduce unexpected failures and align budgets with data-driven decision making.

Our IMR approach combines underwater inspection, structural cleaning, ROV mapping, and reporting — ensuring long-term safety, compliance, and cost control.

Safety and Compliance

Safety is at the core of everything we do. Every Ven-Tech Subsea project includes:

  • CSA Z275.2 and Z275.4 Diving Standards Compliance

  • WorkSafeBC Part 24 – Diving and Marine Operations

  • ISNetworld, Avetta, Cognibox, and Alcumus certification
