Potable Water Reservoir Inspection Services

Access to clean, safe potable water is critical for the health, sustainability, and resilience of any community. To ensure this vital resource remains protected, regular inspection and maintenance of potable water storage infrastructure is not just a best practice—it’s a regulatory requirement. Ven-Tech Subsea is proud to be Canada’s trusted provider of CSA-compliant potable water services, offering specialized expertise in reservoir inspections, cleaning, repairs, and compliance reporting for municipalities, utilities, First Nations communities, industrial clients, and engineering firms.

We help ensure your potable water storage tanks, towers, clearwells, and other facilities remain in optimal condition—safe, functional, and fully compliant with federal and provincial water quality standards.

Why Regular Potable Water Inspections Are Essential

The first step to ensuring a clean supply of potable water is a professional inspection of your water storage systems. According to Canadian regulations and industry standards, all potable water tanks and reservoirs should be inspected at intervals not exceeding five years. These inspections are vital in identifying:

  • Sediment buildup and floor deposits

  • Leaks, cracks, and structural deterioration

  • Signs of biofilm or bacterial contamination

  • Ingress or intrusion from insects, rodents, or debris

  • Corrosion of fittings, hardware, and lining

  • Operational concerns impacting chlorine residuals or water pressure

Ven-Tech Subsea offers a full range of inspection options including high-resolution camera inspections, ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) inspections, and certified potable water diver inspections for both ground-level and elevated storage structures. Our video and photo documentation, combined with live audio commentary from the diver, ensures complete transparency and a detailed record for your operations team or water authority.

Potable Water Tank & Reservoir Cleaning

Even small amounts of sediment accumulation can negatively affect the overall water quality and operational safety of your system. Accumulated sediment not only interferes with disinfection but also provides a breeding ground for bacteria, viruses, and protozoa.

Ven-Tech Subsea provides routine and emergency potable water tank cleanings using fully disinfected and dedicated potable water equipment, including:

  • Vacuum utility crawlers

  • Trash pumps with 2–4” suction hoses

  • Scrub brushes, chlorine sprayers, and underwater cleaning tools

We follow all relevant standards such as AWWA C652-19 for disinfection and water tank cleaning procedures, and our divers are trained to work in low visibility, confined spaces, and submerged environments safely and effectively. We service:

  • On-grade and below-grade reservoirs

  • Clearwells and contact chambers

  • Pedestal and standpipe tanks

  • Elevated and tower storage systems

Advanced Technology and Compliance Reporting for Water Reservoir Inspection Services

Ven-Tech Subsea combines innovative technology with strict regulatory compliance to deliver the most advanced Water Reservoir Inspection Services in Canada. Each inspection integrates high-definition video capture, digital mapping, and AI-assisted data analysis to provide accurate condition assessments. Our proprietary ATHENA inspection platform ensures every project includes georeferenced image tagging, corrosion classification, and detailed maintenance forecasting.

All inspection data is securely compiled into digital reports formatted for municipal or engineering review, including pre- and post-cleaning photos, structural integrity evaluations, and sediment volume estimates. Clients receive these reports within days, helping them maintain compliance with provincial water authorities, including Alberta Environment and Parks (AEP) and the BC Ministry of Health guidelines.

Our Water Reservoir Inspection Services are performed under CSA Z275.2 and Z275.4 standards for commercial diving operations and adhere to AWWA C652-19 for disinfection and cleaning of potable water storage facilities. These rigorous standards ensure zero contamination risk, safe diver entry, and proper handling of chlorine solutions and cleaning agents.

Advanced Potable Water Infrastructure Assessment and Maintenance

As one of Canada’s leading specialists in Water Reservoir Inspection Services, Ven-Tech Subsea continues to innovate with technologies and safety systems that exceed industry expectations. Our integrated inspection and maintenance programs are designed to protect the longevity of potable water assets while keeping communities in full regulatory compliance.

We recognize that every potable water system in Western Canada — whether in urban centers or remote regions — faces its own operational pressures. From potable water reservoir inspection services in the BC Interior to water tank cleaning services across Alberta and Saskatchewan, Ven-Tech Subsea ensures your critical infrastructure remains safe, sanitary, and structurally sound.

Our highly trained dive and ROV teams work closely with municipal engineers and operators to identify corrosion, liner damage, and sediment accumulation before they become system-wide problems. Every inspection is performed using disinfected, CSA-approved equipment and documented in high-definition for traceable record keeping.

Comprehensive Structural and Coating Evaluation

During each reservoir inspection and cleaning project, our specialists examine every surface for deterioration, coating failure, and weld joint separation. The internal structure, roof, inlet and outlet piping, and overflow systems are all inspected for compliance with AWWA C652-19 and CSA Z275.4 standards.

Ven-Tech Subsea’s certified divers can conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) including ultrasonic thickness (UT) measurement, holiday testing of protective coatings, and adhesion evaluation for epoxy linings. These assessments are critical to predicting corrosion progression and planning rehabilitation before contamination or leakage occurs.

Our Water Reservoir Structural Assessment Services integrate both visual and data-driven analysis. 3D modeling, sonar profiling, and ROV laser scaling allow engineers to compare historical data, measure deformation, and prioritize maintenance funding.

Fire Protection and Industrial Tank Inspection

In addition to municipal potable reservoirs, Ven-Tech Subsea provides fire suppression tank inspection and cleaning services for industrial and commercial facilities. NFPA and provincial fire codes require periodic inspection of these tanks to ensure reliable operation during emergencies.

Our divers perform bottom-sediment removal, suction-line cleaning, and leak detection on steel and fiberglass tanks, while documenting all findings with video and photographic evidence. This documentation supports compliance with local fire authorities and insurance requirements.

Ven-Tech Subsea also supports private industry with industrial reservoir inspection services, including process-water tanks, clearwells, and equalization basins. All personnel are confined-space trained and operate under strict atmospheric monitoring and rescue protocols.

Technology Integration – ATHENA and ROV Mapping

Technology is at the core of our water reservoir inspection services in Canada. Ven-Tech Subsea’s proprietary ATHENA AI platform automates safety tracking, dive logging, and inspection data analysis. ATHENA integrates diver video with ROV sonar imagery to generate georeferenced corrosion maps and sediment-distribution charts.

Our Deep Trekker ROV systems allow non-intrusive inspection where draining or diver entry is impractical. Equipped with 4K cameras and multibeam sonar, these ROVs deliver precision imaging even in turbid conditions — ideal for high-capacity reservoirs, clearwell tank inspections, or redundant storage systems.

This digital workflow gives municipalities and consultants accurate, audit-ready data that aligns with federal and provincial potable-water reporting standards.
